National Social Security Fund | SmartLife Flexi

Key features of Smartlife Flexi

Smartlife Flexi is a voluntary, goal-based savings plan that lets you save towards specific goals over a set period, with flexible options for deposit and withdrawal. You’ll earn a competitive daily return, credited monthly, on your savings. This product is designed to give you control over how much, when, and for how long you save.

The NSSF Act Cap 230 enables us to expand our offerings beyond mandatory benefits, and we’re continually creating products tailored to meet our members' savings needs. Research indicates that over 98% of NSSF beneficiaries spend their benefits within two years, often using funds for immediate needs. Smartlife Flexi encourages members to save consistently for medium-term goals, thus helping them build resilience for retirement by addressing these needs in advance.

Smartlife Flexi is available to everyone over 16, including Ugandans at home and abroad (with a National ID), non-citizens working in Uganda (with a valid passport), and refugees with valid identification.

Smartlife Flexi offers flexibility in saving for any timeframe or goal while earning daily returns credited monthly. It’s designed to support both short- and medium-term financial needs, allowing members to save and access funds as needed after an initial commitment period.

  • Withdrawals are locked for the first 12 months, during which daily returns are credited monthly.
  • After 12 months, members can withdraw freely.
  • There’s no minimum or maximum saving period—members can exit at any time post the first 12 months with no penalties.
  • Members have access to a digital goal-based wallet with tools to track progress and achieve savings goals.
  • Future offerings may include access to a network of service providers, beginning with insurance options.
  • Sign-up, deposits, and withdrawals are all seamless.
  • The minimum deposit is UGX 5,000, with no maximum limit.
